Family Mediation
A structured, confidential process in which a neutral mediator helps separating parties reach their own agreements on property division, support, and parenting arrangements — without going to court.
- Suitable for couples at any stage of separation, whether or not lawyers are involved
- Covers division of assets and debts, spousal support, child support, and parenting plans
- Sessions conducted in person or by video — typically four to six sessions of ninety minutes
- Mediator prepares a Memorandum of Understanding for review by independent legal counsel
Lawyer-assisted mediation
A four-way process in which both parties attend with their respective counsel. Designed for complex files where legal advice is needed in the room — combining the efficiency of mediation with the rigour of legal representation.
- Recommended for high-asset separations, business interests, or contested parenting matters
- Lawyers participate actively — advising clients and assisting with drafting
- Full-day or half-day sessions available; mediator circulates between rooms as needed
- Minutes of Settlement drafted on the day where agreement is reached
Pre-Suit Pro Se Mediation
Mediation does not have to wait for a lawsuit. Pre-suit mediation catches a dispute before the adversarial machinery of the court system engages — when positions are still flexible, costs are still low, and the window for resolution is widest. Particularly well-suited to pro se parties navigating disputes without counsel.
- Available to separating couples, pro se parties, and anyone facing a dispute before filing
- Confidential process — nothing said in mediation can be used in subsequent legal proceedings
- Accessible to unrepresented individuals; no legal expertise required to participate meaningfully
- From first contact to signed agreement often completed in a matter of weeks
Negotiation Consulting
Advisory services for family law practitioners seeking an outside perspective on negotiation strategy, file positioning, or settlement options. Offered as a confidential consultation — no mediation, no opposing party.
- One-on-one consultation with a senior mediator and former litigator
- Useful before a four-way meeting, settlement conference, or trial preparation
- Covers interest analysis, BATNA/WATNA assessment, and offer sequencing
- Available by the hour; no ongoing retainer required
How it works
From first contact to final agreement
Initial inquiry
Contact us by phone or email. We will discuss your situation briefly and confirm whether mediation is appropriate for your file.
Intake meeting
Each party meets separately with the mediator for a confidential intake session. This allows us to understand each person's interests and ensure the process is safe and voluntary.
Joint sessions
Structured sessions bring both parties together with the mediator. We work through each issue systematically, using interest-based techniques to move toward agreement.
Agreement
Where agreement is reached, the mediator prepares a written summary. Parties are encouraged to have independent legal counsel review the document before signing.
Fees
Transparent, predictable pricing
Mediation fees are shared equally between parties unless otherwise agreed. We provide a written fee estimate before any engagement begins. Most files are resolved in two to three sessions.
